Imagine that everything good about Range Rover Sport can now be made more efficient, quiet, refined and environmentally friendly. It is not yet fully electric, but it is pluggable because the Range Rover Sport P400e is already available, the plug-in hybrid version of the best-selling Range of all, a car with which to go shopping without spending a drop of gasoline, or going out into the field enjoy their combined power.

This is the first electrified Land Rover, a Range Rover Sport Hybrid that comes with a hybrid system that combines, on the one hand, a powerful 2.0-liter 4-cylinder gasoline engine with 300 HP, and on the other, an electric 116 HP engine that goes integrated into the eight-speed automatic transmission of the English SUV. The combined power of both engines is an impressive 404 hp and a torque of 640 Nm. The electric motor is powered by the 13,1 kWh battery with which we can go with the Range Rover Sport in silence and without spending a drop of gasoline for 51 kilometers. As a good Range Rover Sport we fear the all-wheel drive system, which not only guarantees a good job off the asphalt, but also a performance that is almost top in its range. It does the 0 to 100 km / h in 6,7 seconds and the maximum speed is 220 km / h, 137 km / h if we only use the electric motor.

How do I manage your hybrid system? Range Rover Sport Plug-in Hybrid is designed to work for you or to suit your needs. For this it has several modes of operation. One is the most comfortable, the Parallel Hybrid, with which the vehicle itself decides which engine is most efficient at all times to ensure the required performance and the best fuel efficiency as well. There is another EV or electric mode, with which it turns off the heat engine and we only circulate using electric propulsion. What if I want to save that electrical energy for the center of the city? There is a “Save” function that saves the battery at all times and regenerative braking further helps to recharge it.
If this system of energy regeneration through braking is not enough, we can always plug in our Range Rover Sport Hybrid to recharge its battery. The charging socket is located on the front grill, hidden from the view of others, but a part of this is the cover and behind we have the plug. The fastest charging version is the one that is achieved with the specific cable that allows the most power to pass through, with which in just 2,5 hours we will have charged it. If we plug it in at home like another household appliance, it will take 7,5 hours, so if we plug it in before going to sleep the next day we will have its autonomy available again.

But let's not forget that this is a Range Rover Sport, only now with this added advantage of being able to circulate in electric mode wherever we want. And that includes any terrain. In addition we will do it with total comfort since it has the air suspension as standard. The Range Rover Sport experience is also lived off the asphalt, something that we can enjoy with total control and balance thanks to a chassis tuned for the occasion and the best offroad systems of the brand. Systems such as the Terrain Response 2 optimized for this version with electrical instantaneous torque, which includes both individual configuration modes and those for driving on Grass, Gravel or Snow; Mud / Grooves; Sand, and Rocks. There is also the All-Terrain Progress Control to activate a low-speed cruise control, hill descent assist or the active rear and center differential system that will also aid optimal traction on and off the tarmac.
And all this versatility of the Range Rover Sport Hybrid can be controlled from its luxurious and exquisite cockpit. A cabin full of leather upholstery, technology with its two 10-inch central touch screens with the Touch Pro Duo multimedia system, as well as a 12,3-inch digital screen for the instrument panel. Of course, there is no lack of online connection for information systems in real time, connectivity with our mobile and USB charging ports, HDMI socket or 12 volt plugs.
